Our Team

Dr. Douglas G. Brooks

Dr. Brooks was born and raised in western Pennsylvania, attended college in Lancaster and, upon graduating, moved west to Kansas City. He entered medical school in the summer of 1983 and married his wife, Chris, the following summer.

She was the driving force behind their move to Kansas as she was still in college at the time. Just prior to finishing medical school, they were blessed with the addition of their first child Caroline. That summer he started in a family-medicine residency at St. Mary’s Hospital in downtown Kansas City, MO.

By early 1988, the decision was made to close that residency. He chose to continue serving his residency at St. Joseph Medical Center in South Bend, Indiana beginning the following summer. Once he graduated from residency, the family moved back to Kansas.

He took a job in Olathe, KS and has been practicing in the general vicinity ever since. He and Chris added to their family in early 1995 with the exciting arrival of Jonathan. In 1997 they moved to the country and have lived the farm life ever since. In late 2000 the family grew again with the wonderful addition of Drew.

Dr. Brooks is a big Pittsburgh Steelers and a huge KU Basketball fan. He and his family are active members of Park Woods Presbyterian Church. He considers the Lordship of Christ in his life to be vital to his ongoing practice of medicine. Finally, he wants to publicly thank his family for putting up with him through all the “craziness” of life in medicine.

Missy Stuart

Missy has been an employee of Dr. Brooks’s for 20+ years at a few of his previous practices, in various positions, which gives her a broad knowledge in many areas of the medical world. She is a kind, funny and wonderful addition to the Brooks Family Care team and is an honorary member of the Brooks family. She loves being with her family, spending lots of time outdoors and chasing her Goldendoodles, Finn and Jax.

Caroline Brooks

Caroline graduated from college with a degree in Graphic Design. She decided to use her skills in the family business to help create the Brooks Family Care brand. She works alongside Missy in the front office doing scheduling, billing and other odd jobs to keep the office running smoothly. She’s the real boss, but don’t tell Dr Brooks. In her free time, Caroline likes to be outside in the warmth and sunshine, working in the garden, traveling and playing with her Corgi, Pete.

Leslie Harmon, RN

Leslie was previously employed as a labor and delivery nurse for 14 years before joining the Brooks Family Care team. She also has specialty experience in performing IVs and phlebotomy. She prides herself in being a very good stick, even for the most difficult of patients. Leslie is married to her love, Chris and has two stepchildren. She enjoys being with her family, her two cats and sleeping.

Mindi Heizer

Mindi has been a patient of Dr Brooks’ since she was 16 years old and was excited to be able to join the Brooks Family Care team. She and her husband Ken, and their seven children, were missionaries in Italy before coming back to the states and settling down in Kansas. If you need an authentic Italian recipe, Mindi is your girl. :) Mindi knows everyone in Olathe or everyone knows Mindi, we can never remember which. She also works with her husband at Ascend Church in Olathe.
